The scenery in this area is wonderful. It is classed as desert because it only has 9 ins of precipitation a year, mainly snow, but the cheap hydroelectric power and large rivers, particularly the Columbia river, means they can water as they need to. In places the mountains look as if we are in the Alps and Leavenworth now has many building that are built in the Bavarian style. There are many, many acres of apple, pear and cherry trees.
