May 11 - Wenatchee Valley College

I had a really interesting morning at Wenatchee valley College, thankyou to all who came to see me there and Cathy for organsing it. I am starting to get a better understanding of the educational system here. Colleges in Canada and the US are for 18 year olds, after they graduate from High School, unlike our Colleges where they are mainly from 16 upwards. I met Rob who was about to go and teach a practical class on photosynthesis, it is quite reassuring that he was doing the same practicals as I would have done. The 4 labs were really well laid out with a huge prep room between them. I also met Jenny from the Nursing course area and saw their simulation lab, with very, very sophisicated manikins, and donated, out of date, supplies so that the students can get a really good training before going into hospital.
The College had a beautiful campus, which was helped by it being sunny at last!!
